3/7/2009 Mum has had a stroke..How was i to know?....Mum called me just after i posted my earlyier livespace blog this morning, she sounded drunk! I asked her what she had done, last time i had a parent on the other end of the phone with a slurred voice before dinnertime was my dad when he took a overdose 5 years ago....!
She said she was ok, that she had woke up, and started to drink some cold coffee, (my mum does that hahaha) only it felt to her that instead of drinkin it it was dribbling down the side of her mouth.
I wasnt convinced, wasnt sure if mum was actually telling me all, and with what has gone on over past 2 months with the family, i called my bro for mums address and decided that best thing would be that i would call an ambulance!
Mum called me whilst the ambulance crew was at her house this morning to say that really they wanted her to get checked over but due to distance from where she lives to hospital they left her with a note to take to her docs on monday morning....
She called me this afternoon...the slurred speech was still there...i told her if it got any worse for her to call the doctor...
1815 i decided to give mum a call see if she was ok.. dont know what made me call then, but i just picked up the phone and called mums number.
Surprised when a guy picks up the phone at mums and says 'hello' , i thought i called the wrong number, had to check twice, before i said 'who is this please' and which point he replies with 'hello who am i speaking with, i am Dennis from the ambulance service....!
Telling him i was mums daughter, and listening to Dennis say, ...Your mum was sat on the sofa, she tried to get up to go the toilet only she couldnt move the left hand side of her body. i didnt know what to say to him,...I should of made mum go the hospital this morning, ....if only i had!
When Dennis says to me on the phone ''surely you have seen the adverts they have just started putting on the tv of people showing the firsts signs of a stroke'' i felt like shouting at him ''WELL WHY DIDNT THEY PUT THE DAM ADVERTS ON 10YEARS AGHO AND KEPT THEM RUNNING THEN I WOULD KNOW WOULDNT I''...instead i just replyied with no, i dont watch tv!
Why dont i watch tv, ?....to busy with this dam naffing design stuff..cad work...3 girls...and a puppy to be assed with the tv when if only i had turned it on...
How was i supossed to know that for weeks all the numbness in mums hand...the dribbling...the feeling of the left side of her mouth was twitching and drooping when she asked me if it was , (to look at it it was normal) the slurred speech this morning, .... all has i know now are the signs of a stroke.....if only i had of taken notice BEFORE!!!
Am writting this i guess to take my mind of what state mum is or isnt in, so the girls dont see that something is wrong, all they know is i have called their grandad and he has gone to get their uncle. But no real idea why.
I cannot do anything, cannot just drop 3 girls to be there at the hospital with mum like she would with me.. mum has done so many times with me and the girls over the years!.
I called the hospital around 1915 and was told she is 20mins away and to call an hour after she has arrived, if the hospital have been given permission to discuss how mum is over the phone with me they will, but to call back...
Untill that hour and half is up, around 2100 all i can do is sit and wait, and hope that mum is doing ok !
3/6/2009 The real world has taken over my life.....Shocking i know!Am quickly dropping in to wish you all a happy weekend, am so busy in the real world right now, i havent had the time to be around livespace or messenger to say hello.
Few things going on over the past week
1)- Design stuff ---->> NEARLY done...only nearly is not done am afraid!
2)- Renovating/starting from near scratch on the girls room ----->> I have blisters from screwing 10 screws into bottom of toybox and still more flat packed furniture to arrive!
3)- Took Solitaire to vets for her 1st injections---->> Typically it rained...and rained, leaving me and Solitaire both looking like we had been for a swim in the sea.... next time i'm chancing the taxi !
May not be around for the weekend, and if i gain myself more blisters from screwing screws...(that'll be of the metal kind tut lol)
